This weekend marks my grandparent’s 70th wedding anniversary. 20 years ago we surprised them with a party to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the Bayside Resort in Cape Cod. The whole family stayed at the hotel for the entire weekend.
Since then we have continued the tradition each year calling it a family reunion. Our family has changed so much since that first Cape Escape; we lost our grandfather, our Gran was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and this past April she passed away.
Our family has grown through marriages and new babies. Despite everything that has happened the Cape has remained close to our hearts, and is a reminder of how much family meant to our grandparents! This year (especially this year) we urged everyone to come down to the Cape to pay tribute to our family!
So on Thursday we headed out to begin our Cape Cod adventure.
E was super excited. She must have remembered that she was going to see her older cousins and that the hotel had a pool! Both girls love to swim!
The Bayside has wonderful amenities. In the mornings there is a continental breakfast that has pretty much anything you could ask for! A few years ago they added a make your own waffle bar and lets just say breakfast hasn’t been the same since! LOL.
I think the best part of the hotel is in the back. It is a little hidden gem that you won’t be able to see form the street. The hotel has a sandy beach area with Adirondack chairs that are just waiting to be scooped up!
At night they have a campfire where you can roast marshmallows and mingle with other guests. Chatting about what you did that day and what your plans were for the next. There is just something about a campfire that brings people together.
This area is breathtaking at dusk. If you stay there make sure that you go out to watch the sun set over the bay. You won’t be disappointed!
We always request bay view rooms so we can overlook the back area of the hotel. The view is beautiful in the morning as well, and if you are lucky enough to encounter a thunder storm at night it is simply spectacular!
Though I am completely biased, this is definitely a place to check out at the Cape!
