The Blue Truck that Saves the Day

When E was three months old we went to a book store and I stumbled upon a book about a little truck. Now if you have a child that is under 6 you can probably guess where I am going with this. The title of the book was Little Blue Truck written by Alice Schertle and illustrated by Jill McElmurry.  Here is a link where you an get it on Amazon.

As you can see from the cover of our version, it is very loved.

E is now three and I have been reading this story to her since she was 3 months old. Luckily L loves it just as much as E did.

Okay, so by now I’m sure you are wondering how this book saves the day. Trust me it has saved many. As any other parent will tell you going out in public with kids under 4 can be a bit difficult depending on the day. If I know we are going to go out to eat or take a long car ride (you know the ones that take like 5 minutes, but it feels like you just traveled across the country) I make sure this book finds its way into the diaper bag. When the girls get a bit fussy I begin to read and things get better. At least for a little while.

Now if it is a really trying day, I break out the second book and read back to back versions of  Little Blue Truck. That’s right, there is more than one!!!

(Commence the celebratory dancing!)

The second book is called Little Blue Truck Leads the Way. Click the link below to get it on Amazon.

These books really are adorable. They deal with being patient, helpful, and friendly. They are written in a rhythmic pattern which makes it easier for the kids to read along. I often stop while I’m reading to let E finish the sentence, and she really gets a kick out of it. If you haven’t already read these to your little ones yet do so!!! I’m sure they will love it as much as my girls do.

What are some of the books your kids can’t live without?? Let me know in the comments, we are always looking for some new reads!
